Sustainability

Our current food system is not sustainable

Good food is sustainable

Food doesn’t have to come at the expense of the environment, and it is crucial that we understand this fact. The choices we make in our food production systems have a profound impact on the health and sustainability of our planet.

It is essential that we shift away from the harmful farming practices that undermine soil health, pollute waterways, and endanger pollinators. By promoting these practices, the industry is perpetuating false solutions that prioritize short-term gains over the long-term well-being of our environment.

We must recognise the interconnectedness of our actions and the consequences they have on the delicate balance of ecosystems.

It is time to embrace regenerative farming methods, protect our precious water resources, and support the vital work of pollinators. Only by doing so can we ensure a future where food and the environment thrive harmoniously together.

We partner with farmers around the city and county to support sustainable farming practices. Our Farm Lift programme encourage farmer-led innovation by connecting customers directly with farmers’ intimate knowledge of their land and ecosystems. With locally adapted careful farming, communities can enjoy sustainable equitable food.
